WELCOME TO THE UNITED DEMOCRATIC FRONT

For over 40 years, the United Democratic Front (UDF) has stood as a beacon of hope, justice, and unity in South Africa. Launched in 1983 to fight apartheid, the UDF mobilised communities across the country under the rallying call UDF Unites, Apartheid Divides to take collective action against oppression and inequality. TODAY, THE UDF IS AS RELEVANT AS EVER.

South Africa faces new struggles - persistent inequality, growing joblessness, rampant corruption, poor service delivery, failing infrastructure, and declining trust in governance. These challenges require the same courage, unity, and active citizenry now that defined the UDF’s fight for freedom from the apartheid regime. We must galvanise our communities again to stand together and demand accountability, transformation, and justice.

We believe in the power of ordinary citizens to drive extraordinary change. By coming together, we can create a society rooted in equality, non-racialism, non-sexism, and democracy. Whether you’re an individual, a community leader, or an organisation, the UDF invites you to join our movement for a better, brighter future for all our country’s peoples.

This is your moment. Take action. Mobilise your community. Build a South Africa where everyone prospers in peace. The people shall govern!
